Our family knows first hand about the amazing work of the March of Dimes. Twelve years ago, we were thrilled to learn that Anita was pregnant with identical twins. The first 20 weeks of the pregnancy went very smoothly. Then, she started to experience complications that culminated with her going into labor at 28 weeks. We were very scared that our babies would suffer significant medical complications, or worse, not survive at all if born this soon. On November 23, 2004, Cyrus and Sam came into the world at 32 weeks weighing 3 lbs. 12 oz and 2 lbs 13 oz respectively. They were so tiny, and fighting for each breath in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). As parents, it was devastating to not be able hold and feed our babies because they were too small. Even more devastating was leaving the hospital without our boys.
Cyrus spent 25 days in the NICU, and Sam 31 days in the NICU. The days were filled with a rollercoaster of good days and bad days until eventually the boys were strong enough to come home. Today, the boys are thriving! They are 12 years old – active, smart, and kind boys that were given the best start in life by the March of Dimes and St. Luke’s University Health Network.
Chairing Fund the Mission for the Signature Chef Auction is our way for our family to thank the March of Dimes for giving us 2 healthy, happy kids, and to support the important mission of the March of Dimes. And, it is your chance to make a 100% tax-deductible donation to support the mission of the March of Dimes. By donating, you help real families, like ours, in your community. At this time, we would like to respectfully request your help. We personally hope you will join us in supporting the March of Dimes.
